The class will include a discussion of HOA and and Condominium specific disclosure issues including the townhouse/planned community addendum, the “condominium document contingency” in section 12.1 of the residential condominium real estate agreement. It will also include a discussion of reserve studies, assessing financial health of a community association and building envelope inspections. Jason also provides general counsel relating to HOA governance, document amendment, turnover, and development issues. Professional Involvement: Jason served as a past President of CAI-Oregon (Community Associations Institute), and is a member of OWCAM, the Real Estate and Land Use and Litigation sections of the Oregon State Bar, and the Multnomah Bar Association. Jason also actively volunteers for the Lewis and Clark Law School Mentor Program. Teachings and Publications: Due to his committed involvement in groups advocating for homeowner associations, Jason has presented at numerous seminars, courses, and law forums on construction defects and general HOA matters at CAI, OWCAM, VF seminars, and many other organizations, including teaching Oregon Association of Realtor Courses on Common Interest Ownership.
