The Oregon Dept. of Energy's (ODOE) new Home Energy Score initiative was launched in early 2019 in order to offer a statewide, standardized approach to home energy scoring. A Home Energy Score helps homeowners and homebuyers identify improvements that can make a big difference in energy savings, comfort, health and durability. Providing a Home Energy Score at the time of listing can also give sellers a boost in the current housing market where energy efficiency and renewable energy are highly valued. A score can also help homebuyers – especially first-time buyers – understand how energy bills could affect their budget in a new home. The Home Energy Score was developed by US Dept. of Energy and is currently being used in the City of Portland's Home Energy Score program. Earth Advantage implements the program on behalf of ODOE and City of Portland by providing Home Energy Assessor training, authorization, and quality assurance services in order to ensure scoring accuracy and consistency across communities. This webinar is exclusively designed to educate members about the State’s voluntary program. Webinar Webinar John Spillman John Spillman is a trainer and curriculum developer, CakeSystems account manager and LEED-H Green Rater with Earth Advantage. John develops and teaches training on the subjects of building science, energy efficiency, sustainable building practices to Energy Auditors, Builders, Architects/Designers, Home Inspectors and Building Code officials. He has developed curriculum for both in classroom training and interactive online training. John leads CakeSystems Energy Modeling Software technical development. He worked as a verifier and EPS energy modeler for Energy Trust of Oregon New Homes program 2009-2011. He is a certified Building Analyst with the Building Performance Institute, and a LEED for Homes Green Rater. John earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from University of California, Davis. The day before the webinar, we will send out an email with login instructions, handouts, and CE directions (including a sign-in sheet). Please fill out the provided sign-in sheet and then return it to OAR. We will then process it and send out CE certificates, within the week. If you are providing the webinar for more than one person, you are considered the host. As host, you just need to have everyone else that attends the webinar also fill out the sign-in sheet.
