This class will be held on Zoom from 1pm to 4pm on December 1st and 2nd. It is required to attend both 3 hour session in order to get CE.

NAR's Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource (SFR®) Certification focuses on both the buyer and seller sides of distressed property transactions. 

Knowing how to help sellers maneuver the complexities of short sales, as well as help buyers to pursue short sale and foreclosure opportunities, are not merely good skills to have in today's marker - they are critical. 

Designed for real estate professionals at all experience levels, this course gives you a framework for understanding how to:

  • Direct distressed sellers to finance, tax & legal professionals
  • qualify sellers for short sales
  • Develop a short sale package
  • Tap into buyer demand
  • Protect buyers
  • Safeguard your commission


To earn this certification REALTORS® must complete a few requirements:
1. Complete the SFR® Certification course
2. Be a member in good standing with NAR.
3. Submit an application and fee of $175 to NAR.

Barbara Canaday
Barb Canaday (REALTOR®, ePro) is a Principal Real Estate Broker with 24 years industry experience, and has been a Platinum member of the Million Dollar Club and the RE/MAX Executive Club. Barb is the Managing Principal Broker and Senior Portfolio Manager for Relay Resources, a nonprofit provider of housing, education and jobs for the disabled and others facing barriers to employment in the Portland, Oregon area.

Barb graduated cum laude from the University of Portland with a BA in Communications and minors in Marketing and Management, completing a 4-year degree in 3 years while spending one of those years studying abroad. Barb was a National Merit Scholar semifinalist, received Honors at Entrance to the University’s Honors College, and was an Oregon Scholar. As a youth, Barb was an internationally ranked Equestrienne who was offered a junior position on the US Equestrian team in Colorado Springs, Colorado in preparation for the 1984 Olympics. Injuries ended her career.

Barb has volunteered in youth sports for 16 years as a coach, team mom, referee coordinator and athletic director. Barb and her husband have been married for 30 years. The Canaday’s have three children, a well-loved golden retriever and his equally loved cat.

Oregon REALTORS® rarely cancels a class due to bad weather. Oregon REALTORS® live and online courses are different products. Time spent in each cannot be transferred from one to the other or interchanged. All students should be advised that they are required to complete 100% of the Oregon REALTORS® course solely live in the classroom or 100% of the Oregon REALTORS® course solely online; if a student chooses to cancel from one mode to another, they must start the course again from the beginning. A cancellation must be approved by Oregon REALTORS®.
